Community Library Movement

While starting Our Community Library Movement, We, at GEHNA strongly believed in Albert Einstein’s quote “The only thing that you absolutely have to know, is the location of the library.” And that is precisely the reason that we have made #MyLibraryMyRight as our motto with focus on community libraries which cater to few villages at one go. The basic idea is based on the experience that in rural areas the infrastructure and prerequisites of ideal studying conditions are not available which not only reflects poor on attendance of the child in schools but also lower learning quotient. At our community libraries we provide not to claim the best of ambiences but a basic infrastructure of a study cum reading room with electricity and light. Unlike urban areas which in most of the cases see uninterrupted power supply, the rural areas have fluctuating supply so back-up inverters act as a source. We are further in process to provide Notes/I-pads with wifi facility to give a digital interface. You can help us in this by donating old/unused i-pads, laptops etc which are in usable/good conditions. And indeed, as Courtney Milan said “Libraries are future of reading.”, we are putting majority of resources in that.
